While the DStv Premiership 2020/21 season is set to kick off soon, the clubs still have until November 17 to bolster their respective squads.
Limpopo side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila will announce their new signings and technical team on Thursday, but for a full view FARPost will provide club by club transfer news.
‘Usuthu’ are set to finalise and announce deals for former Highlands Park midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula and Siphelele Mthembu, who has been training with them in Durban following his departure from Cape Town City.
The Ga-Mphahlele club has already brought in about six new signings including prodigal son Oscarine Masuluke and for now, it looks like they are ready to close the cheque book.
The Limpopo club has already welcomed Wiseman Maluleke, Tebogo Makobela, Roderick Kabwe and Onyedikachi Ononogbu to their camp.
FARPost can also confirm that former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sibusiso Kumalo is on trial. Roggert Nyundu, Ayanda Nkosi, Richard Matloga and Tebogo Sodi are also trying out, but it’s not known yet if they’ve made the grade.
‘Siwelele’ have already made five new signings despite their financial struggles; Menzi Ndwandwe, Gerhard Phafoli, Mokone Mereko, Robert Smith and Jabulani Ncobeni. As things stand, it appears they are done.
CAPE TOWN CITY
As FARPost reported, the ‘Citizens’ are set to unveil three new players soon. They are goalkeeper Reid Bombay, who was at Steenberg United, while Charles Zulu (Zanaco, Zambia) and Ghanaian striker Prince Opoku Agyemang is also expected to touch down in Cape Town soon. He’ll be joining from Medeama.
Compared to previous seasons, the ‘Chilli Boys’ have not exactly been on a shopping spree. They have however released 15 players and only signed Ryan Rae, Sizwe Mdlinzo, Isaac Nhlapho, Ramasimong Maloisane, Bienvenu Eva Nga, Riaan Hanamub and Tsietsi Khooa.
‘Abafana Bes’thende’ have brought in Mthokozisi Dube and Gladwin Shitolo on loan from Orlando Pirates. They also have a couple of players from GladAfrica Championship but that’s as far as it goes for now.
While awaiting the outcome of their transfer ban appeal, Chiefs have already agreed on terms with Sifiso Hlanti, pictured above.
In terms of the ban, ‘Amakhosi’ are in fact allowed to sign players but cannot register them. The arrival of midfield dynamo Phathutshedzo Nange is also imminent and as FARPost reported, Nange will soon join Hlanti at training at Naturena. There’s also talk of goalkeeper Brandon Petersen possibly joining ‘Amakhosi’.
Sundowns have made some big signings, but there’s a player who’s quietly made his way into Chloorkop from Uganda without much fanfare. His name is Ismail Watenga, a goalkeeper from Vipers FC who’s tipped to take over from Denis Onyango as Uganda’s number one. Whether he can win a place in a star-studded Sundowns side remains to be seen.
‘The Team of Choice’ has already welcomed Jose Ali Meza, Riyaaz Ismail and Sibusiso Hlubi, but since they are losing Richard Ofori to Orlando Pirates they have already set their sights on Sundowns goalkeeper, Reyaad Pieterse, who appears keen on a move to Pietermaritzburg.
It’s only a matter of time before the ‘Buccaneers’ get their hands on Ofori. The two clubs have reached an agreement and it’s now down to personal terms for Ofori. FARPost sources confirm that the deal is as good as done. Pirates are also strongly linked with former Bidvest Wits midfielder, Thabang Monare.
TSHAKHUMA TSHA MADZIVHANDILA
They’ll announce their new signings tomorrow, October 15. Expect the likes of Miguel Timm, Nico Lukhubeni, Thabo Mnyamane, Lerato Lamola and Meshack Maphangule to be unveiled.
Tumelo Bodibe, formerly with Mamelodi Sundowns in the junior structures, could be unveiled soon. FARPost sources confirm he’s agreed to pen a two-year deal, with an option for a further year. Galaxy have also made it clear they are keen on Xola Mlambo, who’s parted ways with Pirates.
Stellies have been chasing Nange for some time but will have to accept defeat as Chiefs have snatched him. But should Chiefs fail to overturn their transfer ban, don’t be surprised if Nange lands in Cape Town, even for a brief spell while he waits on his Chiefs move.
‘Matsatsantsa’ are closing in on LuckyBoy Mokoena from Highlands Park (now TS Galaxy) and former Sundowns midfielder, Lucky Mohomi.
The ‘Dube Birds’ have been the busiest club in this transfer window, but they are not done yet. Swallows are targeting Tiyani Mabunda. They’ll also announce a deal for Keegan Ritchie.
