South African teenager Akiel Raffie has signed his first professional contract with English League One side Fleetwood Town.
Raffie, started his journey in Australia playing for South West Wanderers U9s before going for a trial in England with Blackburn Rovers.
The central midfielder didn’t sign for Rovers, but ended up at League One side Fleetwood Town aged just 10. Since making that move he has been there for the past eight years.
He has signed a two-year deal with the club and he currently plays for their U23 development squad.
Raffie has made 16 appearances in the league, three appearances in the FA Youth Cup and one appearance in the EFL Trophy so far this season.
He was born in Australia to a South African father and an Australian mother. His brother Reyaan is currently going through the structures of English Premier League side Manchester City.
