Raja Casablanca dangerman Soufiane Rahimi is on the verge of joining Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly.
But before he completes the move to the reigning African champions, the 24-year-old will be out to help the Moroccan giants lift the Caf Confederation Cup.
The Atlas Lions winger, Rahimi, is part of the Raja squad that will play Orlando Pirates in the first leg quarterfinal tie at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday [15h00].
“The attacking midfielder has been an influential figure for the Moroccan side in recent seasons, providing crucial assists while finishing off a few goals of his own. To date, he has struck three times in the Confed Cup to take his season tally to ten goals across competitions,” read a preview on the Pirates website.
According to the Egyptian media, he will complete the move in the upcoming summer transfer window.
He looks set to join his former teammate Badr Benoun, who joined the club last summer from the Moroccan giants.
This season alone, the speedy winger has played 26 matches across all competitions and has scored 10 goals and registered eight assists.
According to Moroccan outlet Almountakhab, Ahly have put in a $5 million bid in order to acquire the services of Rahimi, who just made his debut for the national team on March 26 against Mauritania.
Benoun is said to have played a massive role in convincing his former teammate to join the 2020 Caf Champions League winners.
Mosimane’s forwards have been misfiring this season both in the Egyptian Premier League and the Caf Champions League campaigns.
Apart from Mohamed Sherif, the other three forwards on Ahly’s roster, Marwan Mohsen, Salah Mohsen and January signing Walter Bwalya, have contributed to a total of four goals for the team this season.
