The highly-rated Banyana Banyana defender Lebogang Ramalepe says she ‘overwhelmed’ after signing a six-month contract with the Belarusian Women’s Premier League giants Dinamo Minsk as the move “happened so fast.”
Ramalepe made her debut in Minsk’s 7-2 win over Bobruichanka in the semifinal of the Belarusian Women’s Cup on Wednesday at the Dinamo Stadium, playing entire 90 minutes while her fellow countrywoman Rhoda Mulaudzi came on as a substitute in the 56th minute.
“I am very much happy, I am overwhelmed because this move happened so fast I wasn’t expecting it,” Ramalepe told the South African Football Journalists’ Association (SAFJA) in a Zoom press conference on Wednesday.
“I wasn’t expecting that it was gonna happen anytime soon but since I have been here I am very much well settled.”
“And I am enjoying everything that has been happening since I got here,” added Ramalepe who had waited patiently to secure an overseas after putting in a number of impressive performances for Banyanana in recent years.
Meanwhile, Mulaudzi said, “The move was supposed to happen in March but because of the coronavirus, it locked everything, so with the lockdown in South Africa, it was hard for us to travel. Anyway, I am glad it happened even though it was late.
“I am happy with how our agent managed to pull everything through for us, it was a long wait for us,” she concluded.
