Richards Bay and Chippa United have played to a 1-all draw in their Premier Soccer League Promotional Playoffs at uMhlathuze Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Natal Rich Boyz were keen to test the Chilli Boys defenders in the opening moments of the match, but their efforts were fruitless in the final third.
The hosts continued to see plenty of the ball, forcing Chippa into errors and operated a shoot-on-sight policy.
Chippa needed something to lift the tension and started taking the game to their opponents, because they had no option but to put on a show.
However, Alan Freese’s troops were unfazed as they continued taking control of their destiny and remained disciplined at the back going into the half-time break.
Chippa weathered a spirited second half which led to a goal by Ramasimong Maloisane in the 56th minute of the game.
The pace of the clash continued with both teams going back and forth in the second period.
In the 73rd minute, the KZN-based outfit found an equalizer through the in-form Siyabonga Vilane.
The result means Chippa have bolstered their chances to retain their top-flight status.
