Richards Bay out of title race

Richards Bay FC are out of the GladAfrica Championship title race after playing to a 1-1 draw against Jomo Cosmos at Tsakane Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Natal Rich Boyz slipped to fourth position on the log, with 46 points after 29 matches.

At one point they were five points ahead of the chasing pack in the second leg of the season, but things have turned worse for them recently.

After leading the standings for the better part of the season, Simo Dladla’s charges have endured tough times as they dropped significant points in their last three matches.

They lost against TS Sporting and JDR Stars and the recent draw with Jomo Cosmos means they are four points behind log leaders Royal AM, with just one match to play.

The Richards Bay outfit will look to qualify for the promotional/relegation playoffs in either second or third position on the GladAfrica Championship log on the last day of the season.

They will have to do it the hard way as they will face Steenberg FC in their last match of the campaign.

Steenberg are also fighting for their lives in the drop zone and they will look to get maximum points coupled with a defeat for Cape Town Spurs.
