Veteran striker Eleazar Rodgers hit a stunning hat-trick as Ajax Cape Town hammered Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) 5-1 in the PSL promotional/relegation playoffs at the Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The victory saw the ‘Urban Warriors move to 6 six points, level with Black Leopards, while ‘Vhadau Vha Damani’ remain at the bottom of the PSL Playoffs mini log without a single point.
Ajax’s superior goal difference puts them top of the table with only one match remaining in the Playoffs.
TTM opened the scoring after 10 minutes through in-form strike Thembisani Nevhulamba, who netted his third consecutive goal in the playoffs.
The Cape side went into the half-time break trailing 1-0 but turned things around in the second half as they found the equaliser through Siphesihle Mkhize in the 46th minutes.
It was the experienced Rodgers who put Ajax ahead in the 50th minute from a Cohen Stander cross.
Ajax continued to enjoy complete control and scored their third as Rodgers hit his second goal with Stander providing the assist once again in the 53rd minute.
Academy graduate Chumani Butsaka made it 4-1 in the 60th minute through a Dale Wakefield cross.
A few minutes later, Rodgers scored from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick and give Ajax an important victory heading into their final game of the playoffs against Leopards on Friday at the Rand Stadium.
