Nigeria national team coach Gernot Rohr has named a 24-man squad for the upcoming friendly against Cameroon.
Although no official reasons were given for dropping some of the players, it is clear that club engagements and injuries informed a couple of the late changes that have been made by the German technician.
Nigeria plays Cameroon on June 4 in Austria. Amongst the notable absentees is Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze, who could feature for Villarreal in the Uefa Europa League final against Manchester United tonight (21:00).
Joe Aribo, Kevin Akpoguma and Semi Ajayi will also miss the game, but the reasons are uncertain at the moment.
Henry Onyekuru will be absent due to family reasons, while Umar Sadiq and Kenneth Omeruo are out due to club engagements.
Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa is another notable name that has been dropped from the list.
Galatasaray defender Valentine Ozornwafor and FC Midtjylland midfielder Frank Onyeka are amongst the new invitees in the squad while Crotone striker Simy Nwankwo makes a well-deserved return to the team after a scintillating season in Serie A.
