Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return for Juventus’ second leg of their Champions League round of 16 against Porto in Turin this evening.
The Portuguese international missed the first leg encounter when his side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat. The club boss Andrea Pirlo highlighted that Ronaldo was just being rested.
The 36-year-old forward is keen to make the starting line-up as Juventus look to overturn their first-leg setback.
“Cristiano is fine. These are his matches. He’s fired up and he has been able to rest,” Pirlo stated.
“We know the pressure is on us, but we don’t hide. We have what it takes to go through, but we don’t underestimate our opponents. However, we are Juventus and have to think about qualifying.”
Ronaldo came off from the bench for the Italian giants’ 3-1 victory against Lazio in a Serie A clash this past Saturday.
Juve was knocked out in the last 16 of this tournament in the 2019/20 season by Lyon on away goal rule.
Meanwhile, Porto will be gunning to make the quarter-finals for the second time in three seasons.
