They might have battled out for the world’s best player accolade for the past ten years, but whenever there is a clash that involves Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo their long-standing rivalry is always renewed.
When the draw for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League was conducted, many fans were excited about Juventus taking on FC Barcelona. The excitement was fueled by an obvious reason with both world stars on opposite sides in the mouthwatering clash.
Ronaldo had not been playing for Juventus after testing positive for the coronavirus and has been in self-isolation with his situation to be determined on Thursday the 22nd of October.
Reports in Italy have suggested that in another more recent test the Portugal captain was judged as not having enough viral load to transmit the virus with recommendations made that a final decision must be taken by FIFA’s protocol committee.
The verdict has since returned from FIFA ruling that Ronaldo, former Real Madrid attacker has tested positive yet again and therefore can’t play for at least another 7 days although he is still showing no symptoms of the virus. This means he will miss Juventus’s Serie A game on Sunday against Crotone and their clash with Barcelona on the 28th of October.
Ronaldo and Messi fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see their favourite players clash again as they now will possibly meet in the second leg of the competition.
