Orlando Pirates had 28 shots at goal against Stellenbosch, but only scored with just seven minutes for their 1-0 victory at Orlando Stadium.
While delighted with the fact that the Buccaneers are in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinals after beating Stellies, Mokoena is concerned they missed so many chances.
Thembinkosi Lorch scored the only goal.
The ever so vocal Mokoena urged his charges to take their chances.
“I’m trying to collect my thoughts because how many chances did we create in the first half? I stopped counting at seven.”
“The fans really pushed us – really, really pushed us. If it wasn’t for the 12th man, I don’t think we would’ve had that extra motivation to go beyond but again credit to these soldiers,” said the coach.
“This is the same story, we create so many chances week in and week out but today at least we kept a clean sheet and I’m very happy about that,” added Mokoena.
It took Orlando Pirates 83 minutes to break the deadlock, while they had 28 shots at goal and 9 on target.
