English Championship side Preston North End has had a very good start and are currently sitting second on the log after 14 games played so far in the season.
Part of that success has been influenced by South African forward Tom Barkhuizen, with the 26-year-old striker in hot form for the All Whites.
Barkhuizen scored a brace in a dramatic come back against Blackburn Rovers this past weekend which earned him rave reviews in England, where he was voted player of the week for his outstanding display.
Barkhuizen has scored 7 goals in all competitions this season which according to footballleagueworld.co.uk has had the attention of German club, Bayer Leverkusen, who are monitoring the striker hoping to sign him in the near future.
Leverkusen is currently playing in the UEFA Champions League so this would be a big move for the striker if it were to materialise.
Barkhuizen was this morning also named in the English Championship team of the week amongst players from 24 teams in the league, which is a big positive for him going forward.
Preston will hope not to repeat the mistake of last season where they were very close to getting promotion to the Premier League, but let it slip in the last few games of the season.
FARPost.co.za will be keeping a close eye on the developments in Deepdale to see how things pan out for the forward as the season continues.
