President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his delight following Pitso Mosimane’s appointment as head coach of Egyptian side, Al Ahly.
Mosimane has taken over the African giants on a two-year deal and has been joined in North Africa by fitness trainer Kabelo Rangoaga and performance analyst Musi Matlaba.
“Pitso Mosimane will be missed as a force in South African football but his appointment by our continent’s flagship club strengthens the bonds of friendship between our two countries,” said Ramaphosa in a statement.
“It is also a recognition of the talent and capability that resides within our own continent. I wish Pitso and his team well as they fly our flag and the flag of continental football with a club in whose success all Africans take pride.”
Mosimane is the first African outside of Egypt to take charge of the continent’s Club of the Century. Officially, “Jingles” started his job on October 2.
