Just over a year after joining Swedish side Varbergs Bois from the Right To Dream academy based in Accra (Ghana), teenage South African midfielder Keanin Ayer has proved himself to be amongst the best midfielders in the Swedish second division.
The 19-year-old signed for Varbergs in August last year after he impressed during the annual Gothia Cup which was held in Sweden.
And the midfielder who over the past weekend netted his second goal of the campaign has attracted interest from Swedish top division side Gotenborg who want to sign him at the end of the season.
SA’s May Mahlangu previously played for Gotenborg.
Ayer, meanwhile, has played 26 of the 27 league games played this campaign missing only one game through suspension.
He’s been one of the vital players for his team this season and with his side top of the log with three games remaining, it appears the teenager might be guaranteed top flight football next season either way.
