SA striker joins Spanish side on loan

South African striker Ricardo Schutte has joined Spanish second tier side Club Deportivo Mirandes on a season loan from Portuguese top tier side Rio Ave.

Schutte was born in Portugal to a South African father and a Portuguese mother.

He made his Rio Ave debut in the Europe league against Jagiellonia Biallystok in a 4-4 draw in 2018.

The 22-year-old made his league debut against SC Braga last year.

Schutte didn’t see much game time at Ave but will be hoping to hit the ground running in the Spanish second tier as he looks to get as many minutes as possible under his belt.
