South African central midfielder Katlego Mashigo has signed with Irish second division side Drogheda FC until the end of the season after leaving giants Bohemians FC.
Mashigo had signed with former Irish Champions Bohemians FC from English side Fleetwood town last year, but in his quest to play first team football the 19-year-old has opted to join promotion hopeful side Drogheda until the end of the season.
Speaking to FARPost the midfielder explained the reasoning behind the switch.
“My time at Bohemians was good I enjoyed it there, but it just wasn’t meant to be for me so the club and I decided a Mutual cancellation of contracts would be best because I’m at the age now where I think I can start playing senior Football,” he said.
“I joined Drogheda until the end of the season, they have been keen in me for some time now and I think this is the perfect club for me to come to and improve to become a better footballer. My goals are to make my first team debut as soon as possible.” explained Mashigo
The midfielder left South Africa at the age of four with his parents who settled in the city of Dublin which is where his football journey began.
