SA stars back in action abroad


The FIFA international break came to an end on Tuesday night and many players left for their respective teams all over the world.

There was six overseas-based players in South Africa’s squad that faced Zambia and Namibia in two international friendlies on the 8th and 11th of October respectively. FARPost takes a look at what this weekend has in store for our footballers abroad in their respective team abroad.


17 OCTOBER 2020, 15:00 (SA TIME)

Banyana Banyana midfielder Jermaine Seoposenwe has featured in all three of Braga’s league games so far this season as they sit second behind Famalicao on goal difference with both teams on 9 points so far this season.

The 27-year-old will be looking to continue marshalling that midfield for Braga who have made their intentions of winning the title clear this season.


18 October 2020, 16:00 PM (SA TIME)

After returning from his first ever national team camp 26-year-old defender Thibang Phete will be shifting his focus to Sunday’s home game against Moreirense. Belenenses have had mixed results with one win, one draw and one loss in their opening three games of the season so doing well after the break will be their main priority as the league resumes.


18 OCTOBER 2020, 12:00 (SA TIME)

After scoring her first goal in Eibar colours Banyana Banyana attacker Thembi Kgatlana will be looking to continue her form for the Spanish side. The 24-year-old has made it off the bench in all her appearances so far this season and will be hoping that her performance last weekend convinced coach Dorronsoro to give her a start against Osasuna on Sunday afternoon.


18 OCTOBER 2020, 20:30 PM (SA TIME)

It will be a battle of two South Africans in the Belgian Pro League as Percy Tau’s Anderlecht take on Darren Keet’s OH Leuven in Brussels. Both players played for Bafana Bafana as they lost 2-1 against Zambia in an international friendly. Vincent Kompany’s men will be looking to bounce back from their loss against rivals Club Brugge before the international break while Leuven will be looking to continue their form having followed their league win against Zulte Waregem with a cup win against Knokke before the break.


18 OCTOBER 2020, 14:00 PM (SA TIME)

Having missed AGF’s three league games due to a hamstring injury winger Gift Links is hoping to bounce back to the match day squad for Danish top flight side AGF Aarhus as they take on Horsens on Sunday at home. Links started the season well before picking up the injury in a Europa League qualifier against FC Honka.


18 OCTOBER, 16:00 PM(SA TIME) 

After an impressive outing in the international break winger Luther Singh will be getting back to his loan club Pacos de Ferreira with a lot of confidence which can only augur well for the Stars of Africa graduate. Singh has started all three of Ferreira’s games this season as they have two losses and a draw so far this campaign.
