Ethiopian side Saint George Sports Club have officially announced Ernst Middendorp as their new head coach.
The 61-year-old German tactician has signed a three-year contract with the Ethiopian Premier League giants, replacing Srdan Zivojhov.
Saint George, 29-time league winners, on Friday morning confirmed that Middendorp arrived at their club as the coach and addressed the media for the first time.
According to reports in Ethiopia, Middendorp, who parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season after failing to clinch the Premiership title on the final day, has been tasked to win the league in his first season.
“The target is clear, we haven’t really discussed it furthermore but a club like Saint George going into the new season, we don’t have to discuss it, we want to be Champions,” said Middendorp in his first press conference in Ethiopia.
“I will work for it with the technical team, that’s our target, to be at the top at the end of the season. The club and the huge number of supporters we are all on the same page,” he added.
