Phillipe Sandler has opened up about his plans for next season.
Sandler has revealed that his plans for the upcoming season are to play as much as possible after overcoming a difficult three years as a Manchester City player.
He joined the English champions from Dutch club PEC Zwolle in 2018, but has struggled to cement his place in the first team.
After featuring in a few of City’s pre-season friendlies, the defender is hopeful that his fortunes have turned around towards the new Premier League campaign.
The 24-year-old has played only 11 senior league games since joining City and they all came while he was on loan at Anderlecht in the 2019/20 season.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News, the Netherlands-born defender said he was very excited to get minutes with the senior team and wants to continue raising his hand for selection.
“I feel good, in the beginning it was a bit tough just for my body because we’d only played one game so it was just getting into it again but, yeah I think we did okay. We played well, sometimes a bit sloppy, but in the end it was some good results against good opponents.
“I feel like we’re getting stronger every day. We’re training well, it’s good to get these kind of games in because a training session is different than a game and you need games to be fit for the season.
“It’s good, the best thing about football is playing games so I like it.”
Sandler was asked about his targets for the upcoming season and he revealed that he just needs to play as much as possible, whether it’s at the Etihad Stadium or elsewhere.
“The target is to play as many games as possible, if it’s here or somewhere else I don’t know, but I just need to play as many games as possible. I’ve been injured for a long time now so I need to see where it is, but as long as I play.
“It’s been a long time so to be back playing with the guys is the best feeling, so I’m really happy.”
