Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni has been handed the captain’s armband at Eswatini giants Mbabane Highlanders.
Sangweni recently penned a one-year deal with Ezimnyama Ngenkani after a season without a club.
Reliable Eswatini publication Swazi Observer has reported that the players have been informed on the latest developments.
“The technical bench has chosen Sangweni to lead the team because of his experience,” a source at the club told the publication.
Sangweni started training with Highlanders four weeks ago alongside former Tshakuma Tshamadzivhadila centre-back Carlington Nyadombo, who has since returned to Zimbabwe due to family commitments.
Other South African players who are currently with the club include Mandisa Gadla and Kenneth Moloto.
