Despite occuplying position 6 on the Absa Premiership log standings, Bloemfontein Celtic are leaking goals as they have the third worst defensive record in the league this season.
Celtic along with Polokwane City have conceded 25 goals in the league after playing 18 games while Black Leopards (27) and Cape Town (28) are also conceding bucket loads of goals.
“We made some substitutions trying to defend well because we know that our Achilles heel has been leaking goals and soft goals at times like today, ” said Celtic head coach Lehlohonolo Seema after his side lost 3-2 against Bidvest Wits on Wednesday at Bidvest Stadium.
Wits came from behind to beat Siwelele with Gift Motupa scoring the winner in the 85th.
“We didn’t defend well in all the goals that came in, we let ourselves down but I can’t falter the guys, the effort they have put in against a very difficult team Wits, they made Wits to sweat for the points and we are happy with it, “said the Celtic mentor.
“We lost points, I think we lost to a team that scored but we played football and unfortunately football is won by scoring goals.
“It was a game of two halves. First half you could see that they were putting us under pressure, we didn’t gel and come to the party and use the spaces that we wanted, we were very slow, we had second balls, losing the passes.
“We are happy and we will soldier on but a point should have been better than a loss is a bitter pill to swallow”
Celtic will be looking to rectify their defensive errors when they take on Chippa United on Sunday while the Students travel to Cape Town to face Cape Town City on Saturday.
