Former Orlando Pirates forward Tlou Segolela has joined many ex and current footballers who have made an effort to donate food parcels to the needy, during these difficult times.
Segolela, through his Tlou Segolela Sports development in partnership with the Mmagoshi Mmanare Foundation, donated food parcels to the elderly around the Moletjie area outside Polokwane.
The 32-year-old was born in the area which is 53 kilometres outside of Polokwane.
“Our focus is the elderly because as you know the most vulnerable during these pandemic are the elders because their immune system is very low so we managed to get multigreen food that can boost their immune system,” he told the media in Moletjie.
“As they say, Charity begins at home and you need to appreciate those that have raised you in these community as you know that I am from here. Seeing them feeling so happy I don’t even know what to say.
“These are the people who played a huge role in our growth in terms of guidance while growing up in the streets and you could hear them calling players to also come here and join hands so that we can provide more. So it makes us feel that we are doing something right,”
The foundations will resume the food drive initiative on Sunday where they will donate to more households.
Segolela is currently back in Limpopo as football is still on hold due to COVID-19.
He is the current Team Manager at North West ABC Motsepe League side Polokwane City Rovers.
