FARPost.co.za has spotted veteran defender Thabiso Semenya training with his former Club Polokwane City this morning and indications are that he could be signed if he impresses the new coach.
Semenya was released by City rivals Baroka at the end of last season and has not been attached to any club since then.
Rise and Shine are in desperate need to add more defenders to the team after injuries to Nicolas Motloung, Sibusiso Mbonani and Ayanda Nkili.
Coach Clinton Larsen has confirmed that the 37-year-old is being assessed by the club.
“We are in talks with a foreign central defender so like I said that’s a key department for us to reinforce. We are really struggling with injuries there and I am happy to say by the end of the week we would probably have signed 2 more defenders” Larsen told FARPost.co.za.
“Thabiso (Semenya) is just training with us at the moment and we are assessing him but outside of that we will have 2 extra central defenders,” he said.
City are expected to officially announce the signing of Dennis Chembezi from Malawi and Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo from Jomo Cosmos.
A decision on Semenya is also expected to be made before the end of the week.
