Senegal win, Mhango scores for Malawi


The first round of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers took place on Wednesday with 11 fixtures.

Sudan who are in the same Group with Bafana Bafana are now top of group C after a 4-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe at Al-Hilal Stadium.

Orlando Pirates forward Gabadinho Mhango fired Malawi to a 1-0 win over South Sudan and occupy the top position in Group B.

Lesotho, who are coached by Thabo Senong of SA, managed to hold Sierra Leone 1-1 away from home in a Group L match and are second on the 4-team log behind Nigeria who beat Benin 2-1.

There will only be three 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures today, with Bafana Bafana take on the Black Stars of Ghana at Cape Coast Sports Stadium at 21:00 SA time.

Mozambique will host Rwanda at Estádio do Zimpeto starting at 18:00, while Zambia are away to Algeria at Mustapha Tchaker Stadium at 21:00.
