Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso admitted that he was concerned that his side was ‘a little tired’ after their Champions League clash against Barcelona on Tuesday.
However, Napoli managed to beat Torino 2-1 at home on Saturday to move up to sixth on the Serie A log standings.
“I was afraid that the team was a little tired after the match against Barcelona, but the boys responded well, “said Gattuso after their game against Torino.
“My fears were founded and ready because we suffered in the first 10 minutes. Then the team regained balance and we scored leading the game.”
“The team improves from game to game in terms of attitude, we are growing but we still have declines that make me angry. In the end I did not like the superficiality after the second goal, “added Gattuso.
“Our goal is to play each game from time to time. There are 3 months to go and we can do important things. This team has qualities, but the boys also know what we have experienced and the low points that we have touched.
“That fear we had, now it must become the push to understand that above all we must never give up with our heads if we want to acquire continuity and constant growth, “concluded the Italian mentor.
The Napoli-Torino game was one of the few Serie A fixtures that were not affected by the coronavirus outbreak as five other matches were postponed including Juventus and Inter Milan on Sunday.
