Shibane hits top gear in Portugal

KZN Academy graduate Sibusiso Shibane scored his third goal of the season in Portugal while it was heart break for Dino Ndlovu in China after failing to secure Super League promotion.

RICARDO SCHUTTE 

The Spain-based striker was introduced in the 65th minute for CD Mirandes as they beat FC Cartagena 4-1 in the Segunda Liga on Saturday evening. 

SBUSISO SHIBANE

 

The 21-year-old KZN Academy graduate lasted 77 minutes and scored a brace for Agueda as they lost 3-2 against Lusitano in the Portuguese third division. 

This was the striker’s third goal of the season in the league as he enjoys his first full season in first team football. 

THEMBI KGATLANA

  

Banyana Banyana striker Thembi Kgatlana lasted the whole 90 minutes for Spanish Primera Division side Eibar as they drew 2-2 against Huelva in the league. This was Kgatlana’s second league start of the season in Spain. 

DINO NDLOVU 

It was a heartbreak for Dino Ndlovu in China as his club missed out on a spot in the Super League after a 1-0 loss against Zall Wuhan in the second leg of the promotion play-offs on Sunday.  

The first leg had ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, but Green Town was not able to score a goal away from home and make history. 

TOM BARKHUIZEN

Bafana Bafana hopeful Tom Barkhuizen played 90 minutes and got back on the scoresheet for Preston. He scored the only goal of the game as Preston North End beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in the English Championship. 

THULANI SERERO 

Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero played yet another 90 minutes for Srabian Gulf League side Al Jazira as they beat Shabab A-Ahli 5-3 in the league. 

SIYANDA XULU  

The former Maritzburg United defender seems to have established himself in Israel as he is now a regular starting XI member. He played 90 minutes for Hapoel Tel Aviv as they drew 0-0 against Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Israel Premier League. 

ETHAN CHISLETT

 

The Durban-born attacking midfielder was the hero of the day for Wimbledon after coming on late in the second half and scoring the only goal in their 1-0 win against Rochdale. 

KGAOGELO CHAUKE 

The teenager played the first 45 minutes for Southampton as they drew 0-0 against Liverpool in the English Premier League 2 on Saturday afternoon. 

MAX MCMILLAN 

It was a bad day at the office for the striker as Leeds United’s U18 lost 5-0 against Liverpool in England. 

GIFT LINKS 

The 22-year-old winger played 87 minutes for AGF Aarhus as they lost 2-1 against FC Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga on Sunday. 

KEAGAN DOLLY 

Dolly was a second half substitute for Montpellier HSC as they beat Lebo Mothiba’s RC Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1 encounter on Sunday afternoon.

PERCY TAU

 

The ‘Lion of Judah’ played yet another 90 minutes, but he was not able to help RSC Anderlecht avoid a 2-1 defeat against new boys Beerschot in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday. 

KEANIN AYER & TASHREEQ MATTHEWS

 

The South African duo was in action for Varbergs Bois as they won 4-0 against Ostersunds in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Sunday afternoon. Matthews assisted a goal as the new boys officially secured their status in the league for the next season.
