Egyptian giants Zamalek have announced that their captain and winger Mahmoud Shikabala has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.
Shikabala’s current deal was set to expire by summer 2021 but Zamalek have succeeded in renewing the veteran playmaker’s deal, which will now end in 2023.
The experienced star didn’t feature much for Zamalek last season but he was instrumental in some key matches including the Caf Champions League final, where he scored a magnificent solo goal against Al Ahly and another splendid free kick against Tala’a El-Gaish in Egypt Cup semifinals.
The 34-year-old has played in three league games for the ‘Whites’ this campaign but has yet to contribute to any of the team goals.
After Shikabala, Cairo giants Zamalek have also managed to tie down another key player in Youssef Obama.
Obama has put pen to paper on a deal new that will expire in 2024.
He was one of Zamalek’s most important players last season as the 25-year-old midfielder scored four goals and provided nine assists in 37 games across all competitions.
