Sierra Leone has joined a host of other African nations in calling off the current football season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision to cancel the season was unanimously taken by the Premier League Board (PLB) in consultation with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) at a meeting held on Wednesday, 15 July 2020.
“The meeting resolved to cancel the entire season with no champions declared, and with the same teams for next season,” SLFA confirmed.
The league was suspended in March following a directive from the Government Health Agencies after the outbreak of COVID-19.
Other African countries who have cancelled their season so far include; Nigeria, Senegal, Benin, Ghana, Liberia, Botswana, Togo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Mauritius, Gambia, DR Congo, Cameroon and Kenya.
