As the race for Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe Leagues Nedbank Cup semi-finals and finals reached its fever pitch, FC Sivutsa and Sinenkani were the big winners of the day as they are one step away to seal their Nedbank Cup last 32 spots.
The semi-finals and finals took place over the weekend from the above-mentioned provinces.
In Mpumalanga, the first of which saw Sivutsa crush Witbank City Lads 2-1 in the first semi-finals, whereas Kriel Football Academy got the better of Secunda M Stars 7-6 on penalties after playing to a 2-all draw in regulation time.
In the final, Sivutsa snatched a 1-0 slender win over Secunda M Stars.
Meanwhile, Sinenkani thrashed Amampondo United 3-1 in the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe Nedbank Cup Preliminary semi-finals, while Spear of the Nation also hammered BCM Stars 3-1 in the second semi-finals to cruise their way into the finals.
However, it was Sinenkani who walked away victorious in the finals – winning on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time. This was an encounter deemed as a do-or-die because of the raised intensity amongst the two teams.
Sivutsa and Sinenkani as the winners of the Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape ABC Leagues Nedbank Cup Preliminary Knockout Games respectively, will have to wait for the SAB Regional league winners and battle it out in order to qualify for the Nedbank Cup last 32.
