The SA Football Association has confirmed that six players are out of Bafana Bafana’s squad to play Sao Tome “due to medical reasons”.
The players are Thibang Phete, Thulani Serero, Andile Jali, Reeve Frosler, Thami Mkhize and Abubakar Mobara.
Bafana will play Sao Tome on November 13 and 16 in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Both matches will be played in South Africa after Sao Tome agreed that the second leg, which they were supposed to host, can also take place in SA.
Cape Town City confirmed earlier on Sunday that Mkhize and Mobara have tested positive for Covid-19.
Frosler, meanwhile, had to come off during his side Kaizer Chiefs’ 2-0 defeat to rivals Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Sunday, with a knee injury.
It’s not yet confirmed what’s led to Serero, Phete and Jali also missing out on national duty.
