Had it not been for AmaZulu goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha, Orlando Pirates could have won by more goals at Orlando Stadium.
Bucs settled for a 1-0 win with Vincent Pule getting on the scoresheet in the second half.
The fact is Mbatha was beaten once, but there are at least four brilliant saves that he produced to give Usuthu a fighting chance throughout the match.
Firstly, in a one-on-one situation in the first half, he denied Pule.
In the second half, he was also equal to the task in a one-0n-one encounter with Luvuyo Memela.
It was then Thembinkosi Lorch’s turn and the 2018/19 PSL Footballer of the Season tried a curler, but Mbatha kept it out.
Leading goalscorer Gabadinho Mhango tried with a header from close range towards the end, but Mbatha, who was deservedly named Man of the Match, made another save.
In their fight to stay up, AmaZulu know they can rely on Mbatha.
