SNWL Wrap: Celtic drop points, Durban Ladies give TUT a scare

Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies dropped points in a 1-1 draw at Siwelele Park on Saturday against a struggling Richmond Ladies side to fall 12 points behind Safa National Women’s League (SNWL) leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.

In Sunday’s only fixture at TUT Main Stadium, ninth-placed Golden Ladies gave the home side Tshwane University of Technology (TUT Ladies) a scare but fell short 2-1 as TUT Ladies in second spot on the log standings kept the SNWL title race alive.

It was goals galore at AW Muller Stadium, Auckland Park on Saturday as Durban Ladies beat University of Johannesburg Ladies (UJ) 4-3. The win sees Durban in seventh place close the gap to 4 points over sixth place UJ.

Tsunami Queens lost 2-0 against First Touch Ladies Academy (walkover) at Bohlokong Stadium, Free State while Thunderbirds Ladies suffered a huge 0-6 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at Jan Smuts Stadium.

The University of Western Cape (UWC Ladies) and Coal City Wizards had byes this weekend.

Only 4 points separate the Tshwane giants, log leaders Sundowns Ladies and TUT Ladies in second position while Richmond are still rooted bottom of the league on 7 points.
