Cape Town Spurs have confirmed the signing of USA-born striker Nana Akosah-Bempah.
Akosah-Bempah is no stranger to South African football as he has represented Mpumalanga Black Aces and Cape Town City in the Premiership Soccer League.
“The speedy forward has already started training with the Urban Warriors and could make his debut later this month, having successfully recovered from a hamstring injury,” said the club in a statement.
The 23-year-old goalscorer says the team has welcomed him with a lot of warmth and looking forward to adding value to the GladAfrica Championship side.
“Wonderful, besides the injuries, the stop-start, I’ve really enjoyed my time and feel welcomed by everyone – the staff, the players and I feel at home already so I am excited to get started and help the team,” he said.
“My recovery is going well, a setback last week but it looks like I should be ready soon.”
The Ikamva’s new recruit suggests that his side need to start defending well and getting clean sheets in order to turn their season around.
“If we are not conceding goals and chasing games we can score goals, have a chance to win and climb up the table,” adds Akosah-Bempah.
The Cape Town-based outfit currently sit at the bottom of the GladAfrica Championship table with 14 points after 16 games.
Spurs will take on the in-form Richards Bay in a league clash on Sunday, 21 March 2021 at Richards Bay Sports Stadium.
