Cape Town Spurs have introduced their new home and away jerseys for the 2020/21 GladAfrica Championship season.
The Urban Warriors’ new kits are in honour of their long-serving kit manager, Albert Hendricks. He served as the kit manager for both Cape Town Spurs and later Ajax Cape Town since 1984.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Hendricks said: “I take pride in my work as the kit man, there is no greater honour.”
The club describes Hendricks as a person who dedicated his life to the beautiful game, in particular to footballers in the Mother City, and has watched some of South Africa’s most talented footballers grow up in front of his eyes over the last four decades.
The CEO of the club Alexi Efstathiou added that there was no better opportunity to honour ‘Mr A’.
“With the relaunch of the Cape Town Spurs brand, the moment to thank Mr A, not only from the management and staff but equally so from our fans, was this moment,” said Efstathiou.
“For his dedication, service and passion to us, we all dedicate this edition of our jersey to him. The Albert Hendricks edition.”
The Cape Town-based outfit stated that the 2020/21 home and away jerseys are 100% locally produced under the Urban Warriors lifestyle banner.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank ‘Mr A’ for his loyal service and we hope to make him proud as we kick-start this new chapter,” said the Urban Warriors in a statement.
