Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to prolong their 50th birthday celebration when they host Cape Town City in a league match this afternoon.
Mamelodi Sundowns had cut the lead at the top to 4 points last week, threatening to spoil the party, but the midweek victory over Highlands Park, coupled with Sundowns’s draw against Wits, means the lead is back to a more comfortable 6 points.
With Sundowns involved in continental action this weekend, Chiefs have an opportunity to stretch their lead to 9 points.
They host a Cape Town City side still finding their way under new coach Jan Olde Riekerink , and the bookies are longest on an away victory for the Citizens this weekend (7/1).
That shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the best attack in the league will be hosting the worst defence.
33 – Chiefs have scored 33 goals in the league this season, more than any other PSL side. The 33 goals from 16 games is their second-best goals return at this stage of a season since the PSL was established in 1996 (34 in 2004/5).
They will be hosting the worst defence in the league, that has struggled to perform away from home and are the only side yet to win a league game away from home this season.
25 – Cape Town City have conceded 25 goals in the league this season, more than any other PSL side.
12 – Since their formation, Cape Town City have conceded more league goals against Chiefs (12) than against any other PSL side.
AmaZulu v SuperSport United
0 – Since AmaZulu were promoted at the start of 2017/18 season, there has never been a league match between these two sides were both teams scored.
Celtic v Leopards
1 – Black Leopards have won just one league game away from home in the last year, the fewest of all PSL sides.
