Stellenbosch FC have launched their new home and away kits, maintaining the club’s traditional colours although there is a slight deviation from the previous one.
The Western Cape-based club revealed the inspiration behind their new 2020/21 jersey design, explaining the features and design.
In a statement, Stellies said that the new jersey resembles the connection between the club and its community.
“Our home kit boasts the traditional colours of maroon and gold, synonymous to the town of Stellenbosch filled with its rich history that now writes a new passage for football domination.
“The argyle pattern represents the diamond-known to be the toughest material in the world – this a representation of the team’s tenacity, resilience and strength.
“The glaring shudders of gleaming gold that spurs from the bottom of the jersey is a visual representation of the desire that burns within the club. The desire of the club to unearth rough diamonds within the Cape Winelands area, establish key pathways for young players and inspire local youth through football.
“The iconic away kit…the gold lines that run across the chest of the Away Kit is the representation of the connectivity the club stands for – connecting and linking communities to unite behind one badge.
Stellenbosch FC is a community club.
“When we say that we are a community club we are not just a club for our own community but for the communities of others. The dynamic kit will be reflected by the dynamic style of play,” says Head Coach, Steve Barker.
“We are made up of an amalgamation of the various cultures, languages, creeds, and religions, but when we put on that jersey, we are united behind the badge and so are the communities that support us.
“United by the lines that connect all of us when we play away, united by the diamonds that give us strength to protect our home and united by the gleaming fire that burns with desire.”
