A game of missed chances and acrobatic saves ended goalless at Daniel Craven Stadium between Stellenbosch FC and Orlando Pirates.
Both teams were on each other’s case with Stellies threatening with free-kicks but Sandilands has stood tall to deny them an opener.
Meanwhile Pirates enjoyed much ball possession and tried to unsettle the hosts, but they could not bridge their defence.
The home side were unlucky not to be ahead with acrobatic saves from Sandilands and misses by the likes of Du Preez, keeping the score 0-0, going to half time.
The visitors tried to be more offensive in the second half bringing on Fortune Makaringe for Siphesihle Ndlovu, Ben Motshwari for Abel Mabaso and Vincent Pule for Kabelo Dlamini.
The changes didn’t have any impact in the scoreline but they bossed ball possession and provided balance for Joseph Zinnbaure’s troops.
Pirates threatened the Stellies goal in the later stages of the match, with Pule forcing a good save from Langveldt, but his low shot from a free-kick was saved.
With five minutes added at the end of the 90 minutes, both teams could not break the deadlock and settled for sharing of spoils.
