Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly face a stern test on Tuesday night when they visit star-studded Pyramids in a potentially explosive Egypt Premier League tie.
Interestingly, Mosimane’s opponents are home to four Ahly former players including ex-Stoke City and Huddersfield winger Ramadan Sobhi.
The trio of Ahmed Fathi, Sherif Ekrami and Ahmed El Sheikh, and Palestinian striker Mahmoud Wadi also turned out for the Egypt champions.
The Red Devils are at the summit of the table, level on points with Zamalek on 20 points and will have to win against Pyramids if they are to take firm control of the title race.
Pyramids FC have had mixed results this season, picking 13 points from a possible 24.
They have won three matches, drew four times and lost a single game.
Mosimane welcomes back his first choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi, pictured below, who missed the 3-2 win over Arab Contractors due to suspension.
He will, however, have to do without midfielder Akram Tawfik, who tested positive for COVID-19, and injured veteran forward Walid Soliman.
Ahly may have to keep an eye on Sobhi, who had stints in the English Premier League. On his day, he can be a menace to defenders.
