Mamelodi Sundowns produced a stunning first half performance to hammer GladAfrica Championship side Polokwane City 4-0 in a Nedbank Cup last 16 match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday afternoon.
A first half flurry of goals secured Sundowns’ ticket to the next round. The Tshwane giants scored four goals within 30 minutes.
Peter Shalulile opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes of the game while Lebohang Maboe made it 2-0 a few minutes later.
Lesedi Kapinga netted the third goal for Sundowns in the 15th minute while Andile Jali scored the fourth and final goal in the 28th minute.
‘Rise and Shine’ only had two shots on target as they struggled to keep up with the star-studded Sundowns side.
‘The Brazilians’ are now unbeaten in 23 games across all competitions and set up a quarter-final showdown with Orlando Pirates on Thursday, 15 April at the Loftus Stadium.
