Sundowns go level with Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs hopes of winning the Absa Premiership took a huge blow on Thursday evening as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns at Orlando Stadium.

Gaston Sirino scored the only goal of the match in the 34th-minute to give defending champions Sundowns a 1-0 victory.

A massive three points for the ‘Brazilians’ in second place as they are now level on points with Premiership leaders Chiefs with only three matches remaining.

However, ‘Amakhosi’ remain top of the table as they lead on goal difference.

Jose Ali Meza walked away with the man of the match award for his efforts.

“We fought hard tonight hence won the game and we will continue to fight to win the league until the last game,” said Meza.

Out of their five league matches since the resumption of football, Chiefs have only registered one win, two losses and two draws.

Meanwhile, after a nervy start in the PSL Bio Bubble, Pitso Mosimane’s men have now won two matches in a row as they seek to clinch their third successive league title.

At some point, Chiefs looked to be running away with the title as they had a 13-point lead over Sundowns but now the two giants are tied on 53 points with the 2019/20 campaign approaching the twilight.
