Winning has become a culture at Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies – it is in their DNA as according to Lelona Daweti the club again this season is eager to maintain their unbeaten run in the Hollywoodbets Super League.
The defending Women’s League champions have enjoyed four wins from four matches in the new campaign – second in the standings, behind First Touch Ladies on goal difference.
Daweti showed off her talent in a battle for bragging rights against rivals Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) on Sunday afternoon. The 22-year old scored two superb goals contributing to an enormous 4-1 victory in the Tshwane Derby.
The striker has said that winning the challenging encounters early in the season is an added advantage for her team as the pressure gets lifted off their shoulders.
“We just want to win all our games, we have to beat all the tough teams and be done with them so we can be relieved this season,” said Daweti.
The ‘Brazilians’ went unbeaten last season in the first season of the Super League. Many teams will be looking to be the first ones to stop the determined team from completing another unbeaten season.
“Now we have another goal that we are setting, we have to win nine games to achieve our goal for this season. Preparations have been really good, our coach has been pushing us to win these games in a row,” concluded the in-form Daweti.
Sundowns play their next game against Thunderbirds Ladies on Saturday, May 22 at Groenkloof Stadium.
Kick off is at 15:00.
