Sundowns not taking Swallows match lightly – Modiba

Despite the fact that they have already won the 2020/21 DStv Premiership title with three matches to go, Mamelodi Sundowns will not be taking their league match against Swallows lightly.

Masandawana won their fourth straight league title following a 3-1 win against neighbours SuperSport United on Wednesday night.

A win against the Dube Birds today (17:00) would see the Pretoria side stretch their point lead between them and second placed AmaZulu by 13 points.

Following a man of the match performance against his former club on Wednesday, Sundowns versatile player Aubrey Modiba insists the club wants to wrap up the remainder of the season with three wins in their remaining three gates.

“We are facing a very good side in Swallows. They have not been collecting maximum points but they have been doing well as a team because it’s their first season from GladAfrica Championship,” said Modiba.

“It will be a very tough game for us but we must put our salvations aside so that we can complete our season. We still have three games to come, starting with Swallows and a very important game for us to win. I think the technical team will put a good team that will fight on the day.

“We really want to win all the remaining games so that we can complete our cycle and because we have goals that we have set for ourselves so we can’t just take this game lightly. We need to win because Sundowns wants to win all the games so it is going to be a tough one but I think we are prepared for the shift,” added Modiba.
