Uthongathi head coach Johnny Ferreira admits he finds it rather strange that he has been suspended by the GladAfrica Championship log leaders.
Ferreira has been barred from training the squad and ordered to stay at home for Uthongathi’s away League encounter against JDR Stars on Saturday afternoon.
Under Ferreira’s guidance, the KwaZulu Natal club has been one of the strong favourites for promotion with 28 points from their 14 matches having lost only 3 matches.
But after the 2-1 defeat by Swallows FC at home last weekend, the 62-year-old was summoned by the club’s management where he was informed that he should excuse himself from all teams’ activities until a meeting with his bosses on the 28th of December.
“Yes, I am suspended for one match so I will be back with the club on the 28th of December. It’s an internal suspension from the club. After the match against Moroka Swallows the management was not happy about certain changes in the game and decided to suspend me for one match so I have not been to the club the whole week,” Ferreira told #FARPost.co.za
“It’s bizarre, its is very strange for me and it is very strange for the whole country, but it is the decision of the management and whether I agree with it or not it’s irrelevant because they have all the decision-making powers. They have all the cards and I must abide with them or I mustn’t. So, I will abide with those decisions and I will wait until they engage with me on the 28th of December with regards to the way forward,” he said.
Efforts to reach Uthongathi CEO Jackson Mojapelo were fruitless.
