Swallows and IN2 IT Technologies terminate their partnership

GladAfrica Championship side Swallows FC have confirmed on Tuesday that they have mutually agreed with IN2 IT Technologies to terminate their partnership.

IN2 IT Technologies has been Swallows ‘official sponsor since July 2019 after the two companies signed an initial three-year deal. However, the decision was made to end the agreement two years early as it came to Panyza Lesufi’s attention that IN2 IT Technologies is involved in a tender dispute with the Gauteng Provincial government.

Lesufi is the President of Swallows and he is also the MEC for Education and Youth Development in Gauteng.

In a statement Lesufi said: “It has come to my attention that a company that sponsors a soccer team that I am involved, Swallows FC, is involved in a tender dispute with the Gauteng Provincial government. I handed over the team after we rescued it form oblivion.

“As a gesture of appreciation, the supporters at the AGM requested that I remain as the President of the team. A ceremonial position.

“I was not involved in this tender nor was I lobbied by the company or the Department of eGovernment to support the bid. I read about it in the media space,” added Lesufi.

The chairperson of ‘The Dube Birds’ David Mogashoa said they have decided to give IN2ITTechnologies time to deal with Gauteng Provincial government.

“We are grateful for the journey we have walked with them. But we feel it’s important that they be given time to deal with this matter,” said Mogashoa.

Swallows made it clear from the beginning of the season that they want to gain promotion to the Absa Premiership. They currently occupy second place on the GladAfrica Championship log standings, seven points behind leaders Ajax Cape Town.

But the League has been suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic with the PSL looking to complete the season by 30 June.
