The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has taken to the socials to announce the departure of the national team head coach Ettiene Ndayiragije.
TFF confirmed in a statement that Ndayiragije left his position on a mutual agreement.
This comes after the Burundian mentor failed to lead the Taifa Stars to the promised land in the just concluded Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
Tanzania finished third in Group D of the 2020 CHAN competition with four points, just one point behind Guinea and Zambia.
“We thank Ndayiragije for his services and commitment during his tenure with Taifa Stars and wish him good luck in his future endeavour,” said TFF in a press release.
“TFF will name his successor after finalising all the procedure.”
Ndayiragije led the Taifa Stars to CHAN qualification for the first time in 10 years, and also guided them to the group stage of Fifa World Cup, Qatar 2022 qualifiers.
Tanzania are currently third in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers Group J with four points from four outings with two matches to come next.
