Last week, Brighton Hove and Albion manager Graham Potter came out to the media saying the English Premier League club is doing everything in their power to get Bafana Bafana attacker Percy Tau to play in England as early as January 2021.
His current coach Vincent Kompany has since commented about the qualities of the former Mamelodi Sundowns star saying he can add a lot of value for Brighton who have started the 2020/21 season rather slowly.
Speaking to the Belgian press, Kompany said he is happy with what the 26-year-old has brought to the most successful club in the country.
“I can only say that we are very satisfied with what Percy has already delivered,” he explained.
“He does useful work on the field but is also important behind the scenes because he is the sunshine in the dressing room. His attitude is also great. Those are probably the reasons why a club like Brighton would bring him back,” he added.
Tau has played 14 league games so far this season scoring four goals and recently getting his first assist of the season against Beerschot last weekend.
The attacker is on his third straight loan in Belgium having already been loaned to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the second division where he won the 2018/19 Player of the Season. In the 2019/20 season he was on loan at Club Brugge where he won the league title and played in both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
This season he has been playing regularly under Kompany who sees him as a leader in the team and someone who makes the team tick. A lot of speculation around the United Kingdom leaving the European Union and some of the required points Tau has gained while in Europe have led to Brighton deciding to apply for the South African to be granted a special work permit.
