Bafana Bafana head coach Molefi Ntseki has heaped praise on Percy Tau, describing the star player as a ‘fighter’, following his impressive debut in the colours of RSC Anderlecht over the weekend.
Tau, affectionately known as ‘The Lion of Judah’ found the back of the net on his debut for Belgian side Anderlecht in a 3-1 win over 10-man Sint-Truiden in the Belgium Pro League on Sunday.
The 26-year-old is on his third loan spell in Belgium from English Premier League (EPL) side Brighton and Hove Albion and Ntseki says it would be satisfying to have more South African footballers competing with the big boys in top European leagues but insists that Tau’s time to play in arguably the best league in the world will come.
“It is every South African wish to see their idol doing well in Europe and for me, I am really happy for Percy,” said Bafana coach Ntseki.
“Mentally, he is a fighter, he is a strong character and a focussed individual. I know most people want to see him in England but his time will definitely come.
“I like Tau’s unwavering commitment and I am glad he has hit the ground running with his new club,” added Ntseki.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man has continued his streak of scoring on debut with a perfect chip over the goalkeeper in Belgium, as he also netted for Royale Union and Club Brugge.
