Tau resumes full training at Al Ahly

Bafana Bafana attacker Percy Tau has resumed full training at Al Ahly.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star has been out for weeks following an injury he picked up while on international duty with the South African national team last month.

Tau played in both of Bafana’s opening World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana, but he picked up a hamstring injury that resulted in him spending a considerable amount of time on the side-lines.

“Percy Tau, Al Ahly’s attacking midfielder, participated in part of the team’s full training sessions as part of his recovery program,” Al Ahly revealed in a statement.

“Tau will gradually participate in today’s session after recovering from his injury.”

He is yet to feature for the Egyptian giants since signing for them from English Premier League club, Brighton and Hove Albion in August.

The “Lion of Judah” returned to Africa having made just three league appearances for the Seaguls. His only goal for the club came in a 3-1 pre-season win against Championship club, Luton Town.

Coach Hugo Broos was also forced to exclude the 27-year-old from his latest 23-man squad for the upcoming qualifiers against Ethiopia.

South Africa face the Walias in Addis Ababa on Saturday afternoon before hosting them at the FNB Stadium next Tuesday.
