The Belgian Pro League board has declared Club Brugge as champions.
FARPost had earlier reported that South African international attacker Percy Tau is on course to win a double with Belgian giants Club Brugge in Belgium after the club reached the final of the Croky Cup and are clear runaway log leaders in the Pro League this season.
Brugge are leading second placed Gent with 15 points, with one match remaining.
The season was stopped towards match day 30 due to the Covid19 outbreak which has struck the world which meant all games were postponed indefinitely.
Now there is a new twist in the story with the Belgian Pro League board deciding on Thursday that the league will be finished prematurely and Club Brugge will be named champions for the 2019/20 season .
This means the Bafana Bafana striker has won his first piece of silverware overseas as he finishes his loan spell from Brighton Hove and Albion prematurely.
The Board however hasn’t made a decision on the final of the Belgian Cup yet so it remains to be seen what will happen with the final between Club Brugge and Royal Antwerp.
Although Scotland has also been contemplating the same decision with Glasgow Celtic leading rivals Glasgow Rangers by 13 points, but Belgium has become the first European League to take that bold step with many more set to follow.
