Maritzburg United have offered defender Nazeer Allie a one-year contact extension at the club.
The Cape Town born defender had initially signed a two-year contract when he joined ‘The Team of Choice’ from Bidvest Wits ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
His current contract with Maritzburg ends in June this year and club chairman Farouk Kadodia told FARPost that though they haven’t finalised a new contract yet, they would like to keep the former Ajax Cape Town defender in KwaZulu-Natal.
“As that issue [contract] is concerned, let him put pen to paper first then I will comment, “said Kadodia.
At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Allie was appointed Maritzburg’s club captain to represent the players due to his experience.
The 34-year-old veteran made his Premier Soccer League debut back in 2005 for Ajax Cape Town and he has played 25 games in all competition in Maritzburg’s colours but missed the club’s last two games against Stellenbosch FC and Polokwane City.
“You know his wife just had a baby last week so we will wait. But yes, we want him to stay at the time,” concluded the Maritzburg chairman.
